Why I boycott Ordesey Night

First of all, just let me make it clear that our Ordesey Night IS NOT a prom night.

I was there last year and I know how is it like to be there.There are no tables which means they don't provide you any food or drinks. The chairs are arranged in such a way which looks exactly like a cinema. So off the stage, everything is hopelessly disappointing.


Trust me, it is NOT A NIGHT TO DIE FOR. You'll only get bored to death.

All the lights are focused on the stage, off the stage you seat your butt on a chair in the darkness which means you don't get to checkout the guys/girls sitting around you.

The show on stage is different every year. I heard that this year's shows are slightly better than last year. Last year's was not bad. Of course, there will be an award ceremony for the prom king and queen award. They also have Mr and Ms Photogenic.

The entry fee is only RM5 so we can't expect too much from the swc right? Let's be realistic. Why they can't charge about 30-40 bucks and make a proper prom night at a hotel? are they not authorised to do so?

I spoke to a SWC member about this and he said 'something happened when we had a prom night few years ago' and to make a prom night at a hotel is very 'mahuan'. Not a very convincing answer right?

I think they can make a proper prom night, they just wanted to stay in the comfort zone and do what they have managed to do in recent years. They don't want to try out something that will give them some challenge. And that is very disappointing.

Looking around at Penang, TAR probably the only college that doesnt have a prom night and because of that. It is a pity that Penang TARCians will never have a prom experience in their short 2 years college life.

No wonder so many tarcians ended up in clubs
